All the variants of the eight-seater version achieved good scores across the range of occupant protection

The new-gen Kia Carnival was unveiled in June last year globally. Now, it has been learnt that the new MPV has received the highest 5-star safety rating from the Australian NCAP. It was tested against the latest 2020-2022 rating criteria and needless to state, all the variants of the eight-seater version achieved good scores across the range of occupant protection and collision avoidance assessment areas. The 2021 Kia Carnival comes equipped with premium safety features such as 6-airbags, intelligent seat belt reminders for all three seating rows, autonomous emergency braking, active lane keeping, and fatigue monitoring as standard.

“The rating for the Kia Carnival has been highly anticipated by families, fleet buyers and hire car companies, and Kia is to be congratulated for this result. Safety is critical in the People Mover segment given the primary use of these vehicles in transporting a large number of passengers. It’s pleasing to see the most recent model releases to this segment, including the Carnival, have factored safety into the fundamentals of their design and specification. This is not a segment in which safety should be compromised,” said ANCAP Chief Executive Officer, Carla Hoorweg. The 2021 Kia Carnival scored heavily in Adult Occupant Protection, with maximum points scored in the side impact and oblique pole tests.

The MPV also received maximum points in Child Occupant Protection (COP) in the frontal offset and side impact tests. It also fared decently in MPDB frontal offset and full-width frontal tests. The test results of autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system were outstanding with collisions avoided or mitigated in all vehicle-to-vehicle test scenarios. Likewise, the pedestrian system also performed excellently while the performance of the cyclist detection system was rated as Adequate. The new-gen 2021 Kia Carnival is expected to launch in the first quarter of the next year in the Indian market as confirmed by Kia India’s Executive Director and Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer, Tae-Jin Park.
