Kia Motors India has unveiled the Seltos and Sonet with the new company logo in the country. The South Korean brand also announced that it is officially 'Kia India' now instead of 'Kia Motors India'. The 2021 Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet will be launched in the first week of next month, i.e. May 2021 in the Indian market. The new Kia logo was unveiled four months back and now India will be the second market worldwide after South Korea to get the Sonet and Seltos with the updated logo. The company will enter the 7-seater SUV segment in early 2022 with the introduction of an all-new product in India.
Kookhyun Shim, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kia India, said, “This is a proud and historic moment for us as India becomes the first country to transition to the new brand identity after our headquarters in South Korea. Our decision to increase the production capacity stems from our deep customer understanding where a faster delivery of our products can enhance their buying experience tremendously. We are confident that this transformation will accelerate our growth by not only strengthening our premium positioning in the market but also making us one of the most aspirational brands for consumers.” Kia India will also expand its dealer network to 218 cities with 360 touchpoints by the end of 2021.
The South-Korean automaker also stated that it would begin a third shift at the Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh to accentuate the production and bridge the demand-supply gap. Coming back to the 2021 Kia Sonet, it will see some new variants while a few old variants could be discontinued. The company might add a couple of new features in the SUV. On the other hand, the 2021 Kia Seltos will get an iMT gearbox with paddle shifters. The touchscreen infotainment system could also be updated with features like voice command. Kia has made an investment of nearly USD 2 billion at the Anantpur production plant in Andhra Pradesh while it has achieved sales of over 2.50 lakh units in India in less than 22 months.
