Tata Motors unveiled the new Safari in the country a few days back. Bookings for the SUV will commence from 4th February onwards. We can expect the SUV to launch in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, the new Safari has started reaching the dealerships across the country. Test drives are also likely to begin soon.
Tata’s flagship SUV comes equipped with all the bells and whistles. Design-wise, it looks quite similar to Tata Harrier. The new Safari features chrome finished large grille, projector headlamps with LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels with flared wheel arches, wraparound LED tail-lights, and a steeped roof. In terms of dimensions, the SUV is 63mm longer in comparison to the Harrier. This is basically due to the addition of an extra row of seats.
The cabin of the 2021 Safari boasts of segment-first features. These include an 8.8-inch floating Island infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a premium 9 JBL speaker sound unit, a 7-inch TFT display instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, and steering mounted controls. The SUV also comes equipped with the brand’s latest IRA car technology.
Under the bonnet, the 2021 Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that churns out 170 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. The engine can be availed with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The SUV comes with three driving modes - Eco, Drive, and Sports. It further gets disc brakes on all four wheels.
Talking about the price, the new Safari will be around Rs 1 lakh more expensive than the 5-seater Harrier. Currently, the Harrier falls in the price bracket of Rs Rs 13.99 lakh – Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
