It is expected to launch around the festive season in October 2020 in India.

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift had its world premiere a couple of months back in Thailand and now for the first time, it has been spotted testing on the Indian roads without any camouflage. The SUV is expected to launch around the festive season in October 2020 in the country. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift price could be in the range of Rs 29-36 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while it takes on the likes of Mahindra Alturas G4, Ford Endeavour and the upcoming MG Gloster in the Indian market. The current-gen Fortuner was launched in November 2016 in India.

The spy-images show that the mule is carrying an emission testing kit while the 'Fortuner' lettering at the thick strip on the tailgate is hidden by a gaffer tape. The front fascia is equipped with LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs. The upper grille has been tweaked and it appears bolder than before. The fog lamp housings are restyled with black bezels while the front bumper comes with horizontal LED strip for turn signalling. The SUV rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with black cladding around the wheel arches. The LED tail-lamp cluster is also redesigned while skid plates can also be seen for underbody protection. Various elements such as roof rails, blackened pillars and ORVMs have been retained from the ongoing model.

The cabin would be loaded with several premium features such as 4.2-inch MID with Optitron meter, 360-degree camera, automatic climate control system, wireless charger, ambient lighting and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Mechanically, the India-spec model will be available with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines. There will be a 2.8L 4-cylinder 1GD-FTV inline diesel engine with 201bhp and 500Nm & a 2.7L 4-cylinder inline petrol engine which develops 163bhp and 245Nm. The transmission choices with both the engines will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission with the top variants featuring a 4x4 drive system.
