Triumph Motorcycles has released a teaser video of the new Speed Triple RS 1200. This further confirms that the new motorcycle is all set to be unveiled on January 26, 2021. The teaser video has not revealed much about the bike. However, we could just see the new twin headlamps integrated with LED DRLs. The headlamp setup looked quite similar to the one that is present on the 2020 Triumph Street Triple RS and Triumph Street Triple R. The other design element that is quite apparent is the new T-shaped LED tail-lamp which is quite different from the one present on the current Speed Triple 1050 RS. We can expect the new bike to get a carbon fibre mudguard and gold USD forks. Besides these, the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS might also get rear monoshock to offer spring preload and damping adjustability as well. Another feature that we can expect to be present on the upcoming motorcycle is the single-sided swingarm.
As for the features, the motorcycle is expected to come equipped with the latest generation technology. Generally, Triumph equips its motorcycles with TFT display that provide Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, and Go Pro controls. So, we can expect the upcoming Speed Triple 1200 RS to get something like this. As for the cycle parts, it is likely to remain the same as the one present on the Triple 1050 RS.
Talking about the engine specification, we expect the bike to get a larger and powerful engine than the one present on the Speed Triple 1050 RS. The teaser video contains the melodious exhaust note of the inline-triple engine. At present, the Speed Triple 1050 RS is powered by a 3-cylinder unit that churns out 148 bhp power @10,500 rpm and 117 Nm torque @7,150rpm.
In terms of price, the new Speed Triple 1200 RS is expected to cost slightly more than the Triple 1050 RS. Currently, the Triple 1050 RS is priced at around Rs 13.59 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the UK. We can expect the British brand to launch the upcoming Speed Triple RS 1200 in India during the latter half of the year.
