Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the 2021 Speed Twin at a price point of Rs 10.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) in the country. The bike comes with radical updates in comparison to the outgoing model. First launched in 2018 in the Indian market, it will take on the likes of Ducati Scrambler and Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin, identical to the entire product portfolio of the British brand in India, is sold as a CBU. The bookings and deliveries for the motorcycle starts from today.
Needless to say, the 2021 Speed Twin features stripped-back custom style with styling elements like new 17-inch lightweight 12 spoke cast aluminium wheels and brushed stainless steel megaphone twin upswept sporty silencers with brushed stainless-steel headers. The 14.5L fuel tank flaunts a signature-shape which is complimented by knee indents, bar end mirrors, sculpted side panels and stylish bench seat. Some other notable design features include brushed aluminium front and rear mudguards with new mounts, brushed aluminium side panel finishers, heel guards, new anodised headlamp mounts, painted headlamp bowl, classic Monza fuel cap and clear anodised aluminium swingarm. The headlamp unit gets an integrated LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) while the rear end boasts of a LED tail lamp and indicators.
The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin is available in three paint schemes namely Red Hopper, Matt Storm Grey with yellow accents and Jet Black. The bike comes equipped with a ride-by-wire system with three riding modes namely Rain, Road and Sport. It also has a switchable traction control feature. The instrument console provides all the key information to the rider such as gear position, two trip settings, fuel level and range-to-empty, as well an average and current fuel consumption, access to traction control settings and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) indicator if fitted as an accessory. The customers will also receive an under-seat USB charging socket and an immobiliser with transponder integrated into the premium Triumph branded key as standard.
The 2021 Speed Twin will be powered by a 1200cc Euro 5 compliant Bonneville twin engine which is more powerful than before. The engine belts out 98.6 bhp at 7250 rpm and 112 Nm at 4250 rpm while linked to a 6-speed gearbox with multi-plate torque assist clutch. Being based on a tubular steel frame with steel cradles, it is equipped with upside down 43mm Marzocchi forks with cartridge damping as front suspension and twin units with adjustable spring preload as rear suspension. The braking duties are helmed by Brembo 4-piston M50 radial monobloc brake calipers and twin 320mm Brembo discs upfront while there is 220mm single disc with Nissin 2-piston floating caliper at the rear. Needless to state, ABS comes as a standard safety feature.
The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin cost of ownership is low due to the high first major service interval of 16,000 kilometres. Furthermore, the British brand is offering over 50 custom accessories with the bike in the form of multi-function LED indicators, quilted seats and luggage, knee pads, engine embellishers, head bolt covers, sump plates, heated grips and many more. All these genuine Triumph accessories have been designed and developed alongside the bike itself while they come with the same two-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Maruti Suzuki announced that it has sold 10 lakh vehicles with its automotive gearbox. The AT automatic transmission models account for 27 percent of these automatic sales.
