The official pre-booking for the updated Speed Twin commences at a token amount of Rs 50,000

Triumph Motorcycles has recently revealed its 1200cc modern classic, Speed Twin. The brand has started accepting pre-bookings for the updated model for a token amount of Rs 50,000 across all authorized dealership networks in the country. It has listed the new Speed Twin on its official India website. We can expect the new bike to land on our shores anytime soon. It will get a couple of cosmetic changes along with mechanical upgrades. As for the price, we can expect it to cost around Rs 10 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Design-wise, the 2021 Speed Twin gets LED DRL, a new anodized headlight mount, mudguard mounts, an engine immobilizer, new twin upswept sporty silencers with brushed stainless-steel headers, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and an under-seat USB power socket. The bike has retained design bits like a rounded fuel tank with a Monza cap, bar-end mirrors, and a bench seat from its predecessor. Furthermore, it will be seen riding on the new 12-spoke cast wheels wrapped in Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.

Mechanically, The bike draws its power from a BS6 compliant 1200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The motor churns out 98.6 bhp power at 7250rpm and 112 Nm peak torque at 4250rpm. The updated model produces 3 bhp more power than the predecessor. Furthermore, the motor is claimed to be more responsive and exhales through new brush stainless steel end-cans.

Besides these, the hardware setup has also received a few updates. In terms of suspension, the bike now gets 43mm Marzocchi upside-down forks with cartridge damping at the front and preload-adjustable twin-sided springs at the rear. The braking duties are taken care of by 320mm twin discs with Brembo M50 calipers at the front and a 220mm single rotor with a Nissin-sourced caliper at the rear.
