Volkswagen Polo facelift is all set to make its global debut tomorrow. Ahead of the official unveil, images of the hatchback have been leaked online. The images reveal the new Volkswagen Polo ‘R’ trim. Cosmetically, the facelift model comes with subtle changes. Upfront, it is seen with a re-designed grille. In addition, it gets revised headlamps with new LED DRLs and a new bumper. There is an illuminated LED strip that is seen running through the grille. The VW logo is positioned at the centre. On the sides, the facelifted Polo remains largely identical to its predecessor. However, it gets Golf R Line-inspired alloy wheels. Moving on to the rear end, the hatchback gets revised tail lamps with a new glow pattern. The design of the trunk lid remains unchanged. While the VW logo and the name of the model have been re-positioned.
Moving inside the cabin of the 2021 Polo facelift, it looks quite similar to the outgoing model. However, it does get minor changes in terms of new upholstery for the seats and a new logo on the multi-function steering wheel. From the images, we could clearly see that the model offers a 9.5-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
Engine specifications of the new hatchback have not been revealed yet. We can expect it to get similar engine options as present on the 2021 SEAT Ibiza facelift. The India-bound model is expected to carry forward the 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol unit. Besides this, the German Carmaker might also offer a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol unit. A mild hybrid system comprising a 48V Li-ion battery with a belt-driven starter-alternator is also on cards.
