The 2021 Volkswagen Polo Facelift will be globally unveiled on April 22

The German automaker Volkswagen is all set to take the wraps off the 2021 Polo facelift on April 22. We can expect the facelifted version of the hatchback to enter the Indian shores sometime next year. The company has released a teaser image of the 2021 Polo facelift ahead of its official global unveil.

The teaser image reveals an illuminated LED strip running alongside the grille that has been redesigned. We can also see a sharper LED headlamp with LED DRL. The illuminated light strip seems to have been borrowed from Polo’s bigger sibling, Volkswagen Golf. There is also a VW badge positioned in the centre. Besides these, the 2021 Polo facelift is seen with a new paint shade in the teaser image. We can further expect the hatchback to get updated LED tail lamps, revised bumpers, and new alloys.

Moving inside the cabin of the 2021 Polo Facelift, not many details have been revealed yet. However, it is expected to come equipped with a host of features. Volkswagen might introduce a larger touchscreen infotainment system along with new in-car connected features.

Performance-wise, the new Polo facelift could use engine options similar to the SEAT Ibiza facelift which has been recently unveiled. The India-bound model might carry forward a 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol unit. However, we can also expect the German automaker to introduce a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine and a mild hybrid system that comprises a 48V Li-ion battery with a belt-driven starter-alternator.

The Volkswagen Polo currently on sale in India is offered with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 75 bhp power and 95 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The range-topping variant is powered by 1.0-litre turbocharged engine that churns out 108 bhp and 175 Nm of torque. This engine can be had with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
