Yamaha YZF R15M is likely to launch in the Indian market any time soon

Yamaha Motor is planning to launch the YZF R15M in the country. Earlier, it was being speculated that the Japanese manufacturer will launch the R15 V4 with a more premium package. Recently, an image of the bike and a type approval document have been leaked online. As per the document, it is clear that the upcoming motorcycle will be christened R15M. The document further indicates that the R15M will stand at 1990mm in length, 725mm in width, and 1135mm in height. The wheelbase of the bike is 1325mm. These dimensions are identical to the R15 V3.

From the spy image, it is quite evident that the upcoming 2021 R15M will get R7-inspired styling bits. Upfront, it features a single projector-type LED headlamp. Besides this, the bike in the image is seen wrapped in a MotoGP-inspired livery that was seen on recently launched MotoGP editions of the FZ25 and MT-15. Other design bits include a stubbier exhaust system, a new windscreen, a tweaked LED tail lamp, and revised body panels. Moving on, we can also expect the bike to get a revised instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone app provisions.

Performance-wise, the R15M is powered by a 155cc, single-cylinder engine that does duty on the standard R15. In the present state, the motor churns out 18.5 bhp power and 14.1 Nm peak torque. It is further mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper/assist clutch. The upcoming R15M will come equipped with gold-finished USD forks upfront. It will further use 282mm disc upfront and 220mm disc towards the rear coupled with dual-channel ABS.
