The next-generation Honda Civic will not be introduced in India as the automaker has discontinued its local production.

The next-generation Honda Civic is all set to debut in its production-form globally. Ahead of the official debut, images of the sedan have been leaked online. The leaked images reveal the Chinese version of the 2022 Honda Civic.

In comparison to the concept which was revealed in November last year, the production-spec model looks slightly different. The front fascia of the 2022 Honda Civic is seen flaunting a sleeker grille flanked by wider LED headlamps. It’s quite surprising to see that the sedan does not get any chrome finish. Besides these, the car is also seen sporting a crisp waistline and a subtle character line along the lower part of the doors. The rear end gets a more conventional look in comparison to its predecessor. The images further revealed horizontally placed split tail-lights and a slim black plastic cladding on the bumper.

There is no such update regarding the interior features yet. However, we can expect the 11th generation Civic to get features like a new 9-inch full-HD free-standing touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster among many others. Talking about the safety features, the 2022 Civic will come equipped with newly designed airbags. It will further offer Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure with the better occupant and pedestrian collision protection.

Performance-wise, the global-spec Honda Civic is likely to be offered with a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo petrol engine linked to a CVT automatic gearbox. However, we can also expect the sedan to get hybrid powertrains. Besides these, all other details about the 2022 Civic are still under wraps. We can expect the details to be out during the official unveiling.

The previous-generation Civic was not successful in generating enough sales. Honda Cars India had to shut its Greater Noida plant which housed the CKD assembly line as a part of its restructuring process. This further resulted in the discontinuation of the Civic and the CR-V. Now chances of the new-generation model being launched in India are very low. The company is basically focusing on launching the new HR-V which will directly rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta.
