Mercedes Benz India has announced the launch of the new Maybach S Class on March 3, 2022 in the country. The high-end premium luxury sedan is expected to come in two trims namely S 580 and S 680. The 2022 Mercedes Maybach S Class, identical to its predecessor, will be priced in excess of Rs 2 Crores (Ex. Showroom). Being based on the new V223 S-Class, it gets an additional wheelbase of 180mm over the long wheelbase version of the sedan. The S 580 is believed to undergo local manufacturing at the Pune facility while the S 680 will be imported as a CBU.

The 2022 Mercedes Maybach S Class will get a plethora of cosmetic updates over the standard version of the saloon. It flaunts the signature Maybach grille upfront while the wheel design is also distinct. The chrome treatment has been given at various places including the Maybach logo on the C-pillar.

The cabin comes finished in Maybach specific upholstery with a 4-seat configuration. The individual rear seats could be separated by a full length floor console. The chauffeur package will be offered as standard with the Maybach S-Class with features like powered rear seats, seat massage and a boss mode to stretch out on the co-driver side. Most equipment will be carried over from the existing S-Class.

The Maybach S 580 will house a 4.0L V8 engine with a 48V mild hybrid system. The engine will develop top power of 503 bhp and peak torque of 700 Nm while the mid-hybrid system will generate additional power and torque of 20 bhp and 200 Nm, respectively. On the other hand, the S 680 will be powered by a 6.0L V12 mill which is good enough for 612 bhp and 900 Nm. Both the engines will be linked to a 9-speed automatic transmission as standard. The company is also expected to include rear-wheel steering as standard with both of the trims. It will be the second Maybach model to be launched in the Indian market in a span of 12 months as in June 2021, Maybach GLS was launched.
