Maruti Suzuki revealed the fourth generation Swift in its prototype form at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. The Japanese auto manufacturer has now disclosed that the fourth-generation Swift will get a brand new Z12E engine. As a standard, the three-cylinder engine will come coupled to a CVT automatic transmission. Maruti Suzuki will also offer an all-wheel-drive and hybrid powertrain.
The units available on the Indian market mostly come with four-cylinders. The 2024 Suzuki Swift will now get a new Z12E engine, which is a three-cylinder unit. Suzuki announced that this new change will add more charm to the Suzuki Swift, as this unit will provide more low-end torque and fuel efficiency. The CVT automatic has been specially designed to be lightweight, and it will contribute to rapidly growing fuel economy. The power and torque output details have not been revealed by the company.

The outgoing Swift model, on the other hand, comes equipped with a K-Series, a four-cylinder engine that churns out 89 bhp of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a five-speed AMT and a five-speed manual gearbox. The four-cylinder engine has mild-hybrid technology. For now, a five-speed manual gearbox will be available in the Indian market as a standard. Suzuki has not confirmed whether it will combine the manual gearbox with an AMT automatic gearbox or a CVT.
The 2024 Swift will come with an updated interior and exterior. Inside the cabin, the new Swift features a new instrument cluster and infotainment system. The Swift's interior draws inspiration from the Baleno. The exterior will now get a new bunch of LED tail lamps and headlamps. The 2024 Suzuki Swift has retained the iconic silhouette.
After its official launch in the Indian market, the 2024 Swift will compete with automobiles like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and the Tata Tiago. The current model of Suzuki Swift is priced at INR 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), and it goes up to INR 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). The price of the new generation of Swift is expected to increase.
