2024 Mercedes-Benz G 580 Unveiled Globally with Four Electric Motors

Mercedes has confirmed that the new model will also be launched in India in the coming time.

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its most-awaited G 580 with EQ Technology in global markets. Back in 2022, the auto giant announced that it would reveal an electric Mercedes G-Class in 2024. Mercedes has now formally revealed the all-electric version of its robust luxury car, which is famous for its off-road capabilities and ruggedness. The new iteration marks a shift from conventional combustion engines to an all-electric drivetrain, making it the first Mercedes G-Class with zero cylinders. The new G 580 comes equipped with four motors, enhancing its off-road capabilities.

The G 580 electric vehicle has the same boxy looks that are visible in the standard G-Class model. However, the EV gets a few cosmetic tweaks that set it apart from the original model. The most significant change comes in the form of an all-wheel-drive electric drivetrain, which enables the 3-tonne sports utility vehicle to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5 seconds.

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology is powered by a 116-kWh lithium-ion battery that provides it with the power to go for up to 473 km in one charge. It puts out a maximum power output of 579 bhp and a maximum torque of 1165 Nm. With the capacity to charge up to 200 kilowatts, the G580 also has fast charging capabilities, with a fast-charging capacity to charge up to 200 kilowatts. This means that a speedy recharge from 10 to 80 percent can be completed in around 32 minutes.

Mercedes-Benz has made sure that the car’s battery is all set for off-road journeys. The auto giant has packed it in a torsion-resistant casing that shields the EV from water and dirt. The G 580 comes with a maximum fording depth of 33.5 inches and a host of off-road features like crawl function and low-range mode. In addition, it has adaptive adjustable dampers and a two-speed transmission for a comfortable ride on any terrain.

The all-electric G-Class will be launched in global markets at the end of this year. Mercedes has confirmed that the new model will also be launched in India in the coming time. The 2025 G-Class electric will be offered as Edition One.
