Ford is expected to launch this heavily updated EcoSport in India sometime next year.

1. Interior changes:

The centre console now features a new layout with a large touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel and instrument cluster are new as well, and the cabin gets body-coloured inserts similar to what we see on the Maruti Ignis. Everything else on the inside is more or less the same.

2. Major visual changes:

The updated EcoSport is set to get many changes on the outside, most of which are towards its front-end. The new Ford features a new hexagonal grille and aggressively styled new headlights. The new car also features a reworked front bumper and new fog lamps. The alloy wheels have been redesigned as well; all these design changes share a similar design pattern with the new Ford model line-up.

3. The new petrol engine:

The upcoming EcoSport will feature Ford’s all-new Dragon series of petrol engine. The EcoSport will use a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder unit that will make about 120hp. Moreover, a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder motor may also be on the cards for lower variants of the EcoSport. The other engine option will be the outgoing 100hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine.

4. New tech:

As we mentioned earlier, the New EcoSport will receive the new touchscreen infotainment system, this system will come with Ford’s SYNC 3 software, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Furthermore, it is also expected to feature cruise control, a speed limiter function, automatic climate-control and a rear-view camera.

5. Tough competition:

When the EcoSport made its debut in India in 2012, it didn't face stiff competition. However, the upcoming EcoSport will be under pressure from rivals like the Maruti Brezza and the soon-to-be-launched Tata Nexon.
