Tata Motors Introduces CNG Powertrain and Emphasizes Fuel Efficiency in Altroz Model.
Tata Motors has unveiled the Altroz CNG model featuring a 1.2-liter engine matched with a 5-speed manual gearbox. In its gasoline configuration, the engine generates 88hp and 115 Nm of torque, while in CNG mode, it delivers 77hp and 103 Nm. In contrast, its direct competitors, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG, also produce 77hp in CNG mode but fall short with 98.5Nm of torque.
Turning to fuel efficiency, the Altroz CNG boasts a claimed mileage of 26.2 kilometers per kilogram according to ARAI standards. However, its main rivals, the Baleno CNG and Glanza CNG, hold a notably higher asserted fuel efficiency of 30.61 kilometers per kilogram. It's important to acknowledge that the real-world efficiency of these models may differ from these officially stated values.
Unique details about the Tata Altroz CNG include being the pioneer among CNG-powered hatchbacks to offer a sunroof. Additionally, the vehicle showcases Tata Motors' innovative dual-cylinder configuration for CNG tanks. This setup allows the Altroz to maintain a practical 210 liters of trunk space, albeit 135 liters less than the standard Altroz's 345-liter trunk. Setting it apart from its competitors, the Altroz can initiate directly in CNG mode. Presently, the Tata Altroz CNG model is available in six different variants: XE, XM+, XM+ (S), XZ, XZ+ (S), and XZ+ O (S).
