One of the biggest launches this year after New-Gen Mahindra Thar and Kia Sonet is taking place tomorrow in India. Yes, the All-New Hyundai i20 is all set to be launched tomorrow in the country. The premium hatchback first made its appearance way back in March 2012. New-Gen Hyundai i20 is coming with major updates in design, styling, features, interior as well as engines. It has been a stand-out model for the South Korean automaker with good sales figures over several years. With its launch during the festive season, it is expected to drive home sales for the manufacturer. Bookings have already started last month at a token amount of Rs 21,000. The customer can book the hatchback through Hyundai Motor India’s official website or a company authorized dealership. It will compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Tata Altroz and Volkswagen Polo in its segment. All-New i20 expected price in India could be in the range of Rs 5.3 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi.
Talking about the variants on offer, the New Hyundai i20 will provide trims like Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta(O). It will be made available in six monotone colour options -- Fiery Red, Typhoon Silver, Metallic Copper, Titan Grey, Starry Night and Polar White. Additionally, there are also dual-tone paint schemes like Polar White with Black roof and Fiery Red with Black roof. The base Magna variant will be retailed only in monotone paint schemes while the other three variants will provide both monotone and dual-tone colour options.
Talking about styling and design, the upcoming i20 is based on the signature ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language that has influenced other models like Hyundai Elantra and Verna. Key design elements on the premium hatchback include a cascading grille featurimg gloss black finish, LED projector headlamps with LED DRL's, projector fog lights, fresh set of diamond cut alloy wheels and Z-shaped LED tail lamps that are interconnected via a chrome strip.
Moving on to the interior, the new cabin comes equipped with a 10.25-inch infotaintment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It further provides a multifunction steering wheel borrowed from Hyundai Creta, digital instrument panel, wireless charging, BlueLink Technology, cruise control, automatic climate control, LED ambient lighting among many others. The top-end Asta(O) trim will stand to offer a sunroof.
The All-New Hyundai i20 will come fitted with three engine options namely a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol variant will cater to a 7-speed DCT and iMT transmissions. While the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol powertrain will stand to provide an IVT gearbox with a 5-speed manual transmission. As for the 1.5-litre diesel mill it will be paired to a 6-speed manual stick with no automatic transmission on offer.
