Kia's all-new MPV will be positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta in India

Kia Motors India will launch an all-new MPV in 2022 in the Indian market, reveals an AutoCar India report. The company already sells the Carnival premium MPV in the country but now it intends to introduce a budget friendly product in the same segment. The South Korean automaker's all-new MPV will be positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta in India while directly rivaling Mahindra Marazzo. The report further adds that new Kia MPV in India will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims.

Being based on the Seltos, it is expected to be a bit longer than the Seltos which measures 4315mm. It will have sufficient space for seven adults with three rows of seating. As far as styling is concerned, Kia new MPV will adorn the company's latest design philosophy with several signature elements such as ‘Tiger Nose’ grille and sleek headlamps upfront. Just so you all know, Maruti Ertiga measures 4395mm in length while Toyota Innova Crysta's length stands at 4735mm. So, the length of the new Kia MPV will be somewhere around 4500mm. Kia's two most popular products in India - Seltos and Sonet - were launched with several first-in-segment features. So, expect the company to follow the same route with its new MPV too.

It's a no-brainer that Kia will introduce the new MPV with both petrol and diesel like the Seltos and Sonet. In all likelihood, the new Kia MPV in India will borrow the 1.5L petrol and diesel engines from the Seltos. The power output for both the engines is the same at 115bhp. It is believed that the petrol engine will be offered only with the base trims. For those asking, Maruti Ertiga is available only with a petrol engine for the time being as the company is working on the diesel engines and plans to introduce it by mid 2021. Mahindra Marazzo, on the other hand, is available with a sole diesel engine right now. Though, Mahindra will soon add a petrol engine to the Marazzo line-up.
