Kia has unveiled the all-new Niro SUV at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show. It will be on display at the Seoul Mobility Show from November 25 to December 5 while being available with HEV, PHEV and EV powertrains starting from next year. Kia Nero adorns the brand's Opposites United design philosophy while styling inspiration comes from the nature. The SUV is previewed by the Habaniro concept which made its debut two years back in 2019. It is not known whether Kia will launch it in the Indian market in near future or not.
Kia Nero comes in a high-tech two tone body with wider rear pillar, upright windows and boomerang-shaped vertical taillights. The front end flaunts the signature 'tiger face' which extends from the hood to the rugged fender below. Further, the SUV is equipped with 'heartbeat' shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights). "Kia continues to take steps towards a more sustainable future, inviting everyone to join the movement into the new mobility era. The all-new Kia Niro makes it simple to practice a sustainable lifestyle with its eco-friendly materials, advanced technology and electric powertrains while it also fulfills the practical needs of customers," said Ho Sung Song, President and CEO of Kia.
Kia has used new recycled materials inside the cabin as the headlining is made from recycled wallpaper while the seats are devloped from Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves. In fact, the company has used BTX free paint on the door panels. The off-center dash curves around the front occupants with horizontal and diagonal lines opposing each other. The stylish center-console is easy to operate and features the electronic dial-type shift lever. It is positioned on the wide high-gloss black surface. The audio-visual screen and air vents are incorporated within the diagonal gaps of the modern dash design with ambient mood lighting. The seats are lightweight with the headrests' back cover incorporating a convenient coat hanger.

Kia has introduced 'Greenzone Drive Mode' with the Nero which automatically transfers the (P)HEV into EV drive mode. When driving in green zones such as residential areas, or nearby schools and hospitals, the vehicle automatically uses electric power based on navigation cues and driving history data. It also recognizes a driver's favorite places, including home and office registered in the navigation system as a green zone.
