Google approached the veteran actor to lend his voice to navigate Google Maps in Mumbai.

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has completed four decades in the film industry. He is well known for his heavy and impressive baritone that has a story of its own. He was once rejected by All India Radio as they found his voice unusual. Today the legendary actor’s baritone is as famous and recognized as his acting skills. Google reportedly approached the iconic Amitabh Bachchan to lend his voice for Google Maps in Mumbai. Currently, the Mumbaikars listen to Australia born, New York-based entertainer Karen Jacobsen’s voice while trying to navigate through the city.

Amitabh Bachchan has earlier lent his voice for many prominent films, ads, and social campaigns. Some of the famous social campaigns include “Do Boond Zindagi ki” and ‘Banega swachh India.’ Now if everything goes well then this powerful voice will also be helping you with direction on the roads of Mumbai. The actor has not signed the contract yet. According to Google, considering the actor to be on board is a great idea as his baritone is so followed and popular already. According to the source, the actor has been offered a huge sum of money to lend his voice for Google Maps. Keeping the current social distancing norms in mind, if the actor agrees to sign the contract then the voice is going to be recorded at his home.

This is not the first time that a celebrity has been approached for lending their voice for Google Maps. Actor Aamir Khan was also approached for the same. In 2018, Yash Raj Films and Google joined hands to use Aamir Khan's character, Firangi from Thugs of Hindistan for the map app. This was done as a part of the promotion for the film.
