Audi India has finally launched the all-electric e-tron SUV at a starting price of Rs 99.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Audi etron has been offered in two trims namely 50 Quattro and 55 Quattro while Audi etron Sportback is only available in the top-end 55 Quattro grade. The duo can be booked online at the company's website and at Audi dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 5 Lakhs. Audi etron will be competing against the likes of Mercedes Benz EQC and Jaguar I-PACE in the Indian market.
The etron adorns the brand's latest design language with a massive grille and sleek LED headlamps upfront. The side profile has been carried over from other popular SUV models of the German luxury automaker like Q5 and Q7. Though, the etron Sportback appears more of a coupe when viewed from sideways due to its tapered roofline. The rear end of both the SUVs are identical with an LED tail-lamp cluster which is connected by a full-width light bar. The duo rides on 20-inch alloy wheels as standard.
The primary highlight of the interior cabin is the dual touchscreen setup. The SUV comes equipped with a 10.1-inch screen for the infotainment system at the top. Below this is another 8.8-inch screen for operating the climate control and various other features. It also boasts of Audi's 'Virtual Cockpit' digital instrument cluster as standard feature. Some of the other notable features include four-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, matrix LED headlights, powered tailgate, cruise control and adaptive air suspension. Audi etron 55 Quattro trim can also be availed with a Technology Pack which comprises of a 705W B&O premium 3D sound system with 16 speakers, ambient lighting with 30 colors, air purifier and 360 degree camera.
Powering the etron 50 Quattro is a couple of electric motors on both front and rear axle with power output of 313 bhp and peak torque of 540 Nm. The SUV does a 0-100kmph sprint in merely 6.8 seconds. The electric motors receive power from a 71kW battery and return a range of 264-379 kms on a full charge. On the other hand, Audi etron and Audi etron Sportback in the 55 Quattro grade come with a bigger and more powerful battery of 95kW. It delivers power to the electric motors at front and rear axle in tune of 408 bhp while torque figures are rated at 664 Nm. The 0-100kmph sprint time is just 5.7 seconds with a driving range of 359-484 kms. The battery can be charged upto 80 percent from standstill in 8.5 hours with the help of an 11kW AC charger while a 150kW DC fast charger takes only 30 minutes for the same.
