The homegrown automaker has revealed that it would start taking booking of its recently launched Chetak e-scooter from January 2020.
The revelation came from the company at 'Chetak Electric Yatra' event that was held at Pune. The company revealed that initially, the Bajaj Chetak will be sold through KTM showrooms. With its first electric scooter, Bajaj seeks to pay homage to its glorified Chetak scooter that reminds everyone of the company’s iconic image in the past.
The new electric scooter features retro-styling that has large body panels and smooth lines. With the help of multi-spoke wheels and a contoured seat, the scooter gets an ultra-modern appeal.When it comes to power, the scooter gets it's from a 4kW motor that has an IP67-rated lithium-ion battery, which can be charged through a standard 5A-15A outlet. The scooter has two riding modes Sport and Eco that can give a riding range of 85km and 95km, respectively.
The scooter will have some features like digital console, horseshoe-shaped LED headlight with DRLs and sequential scrolling LED blinkers. Also, there would be mobile app that would assist the rider.
The company has given attention to details like ‘feather touch’ switchgear, full-LED lighting, and high-quality materials have been used in areas like mirror stalks, side stand, pillion foot pegs and more.
The suspension duties are handled by a tubular single-sided suspension at the front and a mono-shock at the rear end. The braking duties are handled by disc brake at the front while the scooter receives drum brakes at rear end. The scooter comes with 12-inch wheels that are fitted with a regenerative braking system.
Till now, the company has not revealed the prices but speculations are high that the scooter would be placed as a premium product and will have an asking price of around Rs. 1.4 Lacs.
