Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube electric scooters have secured their spots among India's top 10 best-selling scooters during the first nine months of FY2025. This is a major milestone for electric scooters in a market dominated by petrol-powered two-wheelers.
From April to December 2024, the top 10 selling scooters accounted for 46,51,718 units which makes up 31% of total scooter sales. The Bajaj Chetak, a new entrant in the top 10, stormed into seventh place, while TVS iQube claimed the sixth position in this period.
Together these two electric scooter models captured 8.3% of sales among the top 10 scooters. Bajaj Chetak sales skyrocketed 148% year-over-year becoming India's second most popular electric scooter. TVS iQube followed with a robust 37% growth in the same period.
Industry experts attribute this sales increase to rising fuel costs, state EV incentives, lower maintenance costs, and urban commuting convenience. The top 10 scooters accounted for 46,51,718 units which is 31% of total scooter sales. With more people switching to electric, 2025 could be a game-changer for EV scooters in India.
