Toyota to launch the Fortuner facelift with Legender trim on January 6, 2021

Toyota Kirloskar Motors will be launching the Fortuner facelift in India on January 6, 2020. The SUV made its global debut earlier this year. It has been spotted doing test runs quite a few times in the past. Along with this, Toyota is also expected to launch a top-end trim of Fortuner facelift namely Legender on the same day. The Legender grade of the SUV has been spied undisguised on multiple occasions in the past. Being a top-end trim, it will get a few extra features with a more powerful engine. As for the price, we can expect the Fortuner facelift to be slightly premium over the current model. At present, the standard Fortuner retails in the price range of Rs 28.66 lakhs - Rs 34.43 lakhs (ex-showroom). Talking about the Fortuner Legender, we can expect the starting price to be around Rs 40 lakhs (ex-showroom).

The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift gets subtle cosmetic changes. Upfront, it will get a large mesh-pattern grille. In addition, it will be offered with redesigned LED headlamps with LED DRLs, a revised front bumper, and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels. Towards the rear end, it gets slim LED tail-lights. Apart from these changes, the rest of the design remains similar to the ongoing model.

The cabin of the Fortuner facelift remains similar to the current model. However, we can expect minor changes. These include a  larger, 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The model on sale in the international market comes equipped with features like 8-way power-adjustable driver and co-passenger's seats, wireless smartphone charging, updated instrument cluster, a 9-speaker JBL audio system, LED ambient lighting, and a 360-degree camera. We can expect these features to be present in the India-spec 2021 Fortuner facelift as well.

Performance-wise, the upcoming 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift is expected to get the same 2.8-litre four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that powers the current model. In the global market, the engine generates 204 bhp power and 500 Nm torque. We are still not sure whether the engine will come in the same state of power and torque in the Indian market. Furthermore, Toyota is also likely to retain the 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers a maximum power of 166 bhp and a peak torque of 245 Nm. Both the engines will be available with manual and automatic gearbox options.
