Mahindra's lineup for Auto Expo 2020 is set to pack up to 18 vehicles for current vehicles including EVs, facelifts and next-gen iterations. And now, with 4 concept drawings revealed, the carmaker has offered us a hint of what to come from the EV side.
The first layout sketch looks like what Mahindra announced could be the all-new electric concept car. While it features a comparable front grille to the XUV300, it gets a different front layout and has a larger overall silhouette in comparison. This model could likely be a prototype for the next-gen XUV500.
The next concept model appears like the XUV300 Electric expected for a debut in 2021. The concept drawing will show a grille template that has been modified, presumably to give it its identity. It could be operated by an electric 132PS engine, rejuiced by a 40kWh tank, with a range of over 300 km. It's supposed to be the primary competitor of the recently launched Nexon EV.
The eKUV100 with its low, haschback-like dimensions is unmistakably third on the teaser diagram. The carmaker promises a travel range of 140 km and fast-charging capability in less than an hour to grant it a 0-80 per cent price. It is scheduled for a launch in the summer of 2020 with prices likely to start on around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).
The ATOM EV model, which was previously exhibited at Auto Expo 2018, is going into the fourth and final design outline. The electric powertrain uses swapable batteries for extending the range of the car. Yes, the mini three-seater may look like a battery-powered toy car, it's part of last-mile connectivity vision from the carmaker.
Apart from these, several wacky designs are also set to appear at the exhibition. These include the Stinger, which is essentially a TUV300 drop-top, as well as the UDO concept.
