Last week, we had told you that Bajaj had to temporarily close the bookings for Chetak EV as the entire stock was sold out in merely 48 hours. Now, the company has silently increased the price of both variants of the electric scooter. Bajaj Chetak Urbane has witnessed a price hike of Rs 27,620 while Bajaj Chetak Premium gets an increase in price by Rs 24,620. After the rise in prices, the former comes at a sticker price of Rs 1.42 Lakhs while the latter is tagged at Rs 1.44 Lakhs. Bajaj Chetak EV rivals the likes of Ather 450X and TVS iQube in the Indian market.
Bajaj had announced a price hike for Chetak EV last month as well when the bookings were not open. The brand had increased the prices of Premium and Urbane variants by Rs 5000 and Rs 15000, respectively. With the latest rise in prices, Bajaj Chetak EV is now at par with both of its peers - Ather 450 Plus (Rs 1.40 Lakhs) and TVS iQube (Rs 1.36 Lakhs). Speaking about the features of Bajaj Chetak Premium, it comes with a few extra metallic color choices. Also, the seat is finished in a dark/light tan with wheels in metallic colors. It features a disc brake upfront. On the other hand, Bajaj Chetak Urbane misses out on the metallic colors and comes equipped with a drum brake at the front.
Bajaj Chetak has received overwhelming response from the buyers across the nation. It is evident from the fact that Bajaj had to stall the bookings last week despite being on a first come first serve basis. In fact, the brand issued a statement which said that bookings will reopen only after reviewing the supply chain situation. Though, the exact number of bookings received during the two day time were not revealed but it has been learnt that Bajaj Chetak EV registered a huge number of confirmed orders. Presently, it is on sale in only two cities namely Pune and Bengaluru in the country. However, reports have stated that Bajaj is soon going to launch it in Chennai and Hyderabad as well.
