The new Bajaj-KTM e-mopeds will come out in 2022 between the power range of 3 and 10 kW.

Bajaj Auto, in association with KTM, is working on a new range of electric mopeds which will include e-bikes and scooters as well for the Indian market. The company will locally produce the new e-mopeds at the Pune facility while they will also be exported to several global markets. Recently, Pierer Mobility Group, earlier known as KTM Industries AG, which has brands like KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas and WP Suspension under its umbrella, released its FY20 annual report and this very annual report confirmed this new development on e-mopeds.

The annual report further reveals that under the powered two-wheelers (PTW) project, both the companies, Bajaj & KTM, will roll out a myriad of electric vehicles in low-voltage range of 48 volts. The new products will come out in 2022 between the power range of 3 and 10 kW. In fact, Rahul Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto had mentioned on the sidelines of Bajaj Chetak EV launch that KTM had expressed interest in the Chetak platform for an all-new electric scooter. Bajaj has already entered the electric two-wheeler space with the Chetak which competes with the likes of Ather 450X and TVS iQube in India. The electric scooter will also be exported to many international markets while it is locally developed at the company's Pune production facility.

The FY20 annual report further states the launch of Husqvarna motorcycles while indicating that the company will primarily focus on belligerent market strategy in emerging markets in 2020. The shifting of production of Husqvarna motorcycles to Bajaj Auto was carried out last year and it will enable KTM to leverage its full potential in the development of entry-level motorcycles with low production costs and as a subsequent result, even lower prices and higher sales numbers. KTM & Husqvarna sold 234,449 and 45,650 motorcycles, respectively, with a combined group sales of 280,099 units, thereby registering a growth of 7 percent. It propelled the company to invest a whooping 121 million in the Indian market in 2019 for product development.
