Tata Motors has won a contract to supply 200 units of their top end Tata Hexa SUVs to the Bangladesh Army.

After Indian Army, now Tata Motors is all ready to supply its vehicles to the army of the neighbouring country Bangladesh. Tata Motors has won a contract to supply 200 units of their top end Tata Hexa SUVs to the Bangladesh Army. The Indian carmaker will supply the 4x4 variant of the Hexa SUV to the Bangladesh Army. The company stated that it won the order after months of rigorous testing of the vehicle.

The fact that Tata Hexa managed to win the order for Tata Motors amid competition from other bidders is a testimony to the quality of the SUV in the Indian market. Speaking about the order and the company’s outlook toward the market, the head of international business of the passenger vehicles division at Tata Motors, Sujan Roy said,

"Bangladesh is a key market for us and this order is a clear sign of Tata Motors' commitment and growing success in the market. We are exploring multiple avenues to work closely with the Bangladesh armed forces and look forward to a long and rewarding partnership for both parties."

Meanwhile, the company also released an official statement post the news of the order for the Bangladesh army was made public. The statement read,

“This order has been won against the other competitive brand SUVs and this has been the first key order from the Bangladesh Army. The superior performance of the Tata Hexa, better comfort features and widely available service and spares in Bangladesh made it the most preferred brand for the army,”

Tata Motors already has a good presence in the Bangladesh market and it sells models like the Tata Indigo, Tata Tiago and Tata Nexon in the country. However, the Tata Hexa is not sold in the private market in the country and for now, it will be supplied exclusively to the Bangladesh Army.

Coming back to Hexa SUV, the flagship model of the company comes with 2.2L turbo diesel engine in two tunings. The higher powered one is rated to deliver 156 Bhp and 400 Nm, and the lower tuning produces 148 Bhp and 320 Nm. The lower tuned version of the 2.2L engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the higher tuned engine comes with the option of a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. The AWD feature of the Tata Hexa is made by Borg and Warner, one of the leading and most respected names in the industry. The all-wheel-drive (AWD) system on the Hexa is controlled electronically and comes with torque-on-demand feature.
