The car will compete with the upcoming Mercedes A-class sedan globally.

The BMW 1-Series Sedan was launched in China back in late 2016 and this model is being built in association with Chinese carmaker, Brilliance Auto. When it was launched, BMW had specifically announced that the car was for the Chinese market and won’t go to any other.

The company has now had a change of heart and is looking at launching the 1-series in other markets in the future. The company recently launched the car in Mexico as well. In India, BMW lacks a direct rival to the Mercedes CLA and the Audi A3 sedan, the 1-series sedan could also take on the more conventional A-class-based sedan which will be unveiled in the future.

The 1-series sedan is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder petrol and a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol. For now, BMW hasn’t confirmed whether or not it is looking to bring this car to India.
