BMW India has launched the 220i Sport at an introductory price of Rs 37.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Being locally manufactured at the Chennai production facility, the ‘Sport’ petrol variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé is available at dealerships from today onwards. Meanwhile, in other news, the recently launched diesel variant of the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé 'Black Shadow' edition was completely booked within a day via BMW Online Shop. The edition will be available once again in the petrol avatar on popular demand very soon.
As for exterior styling, BMW 220i Sport flaunts partially tilted LED headlamps, signature kidney front grille, stretched silhouette and four frameless doors. The rear end boasts of an L-shaped full-LED tail lamp cluster. It is available in four exciting colours - Alpine White (non-metallic) and metallic paintworks – Black Sapphire, Melbourne Red and Storm Bay. In fact, the interior cabin can be availed in two themes namely Sensatec Oyster Black and Sensatec Black. Some of the salient features include Leather multifunction steering wheel, Front sport seats with electrical memory function, Panoramic sunroof, Cruise control with braking function, Ambient light package with illuminated interior trim, BMW live cockpit plus, Performance control and Parking assist with reverse assist.
A special mention goes to the 8.8-inch iDrive touchscreen infotainment system with 3D Navigation, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The safety features on-board are 6 airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC) and Cornering Brake Control (CBC). Under the hood, BMW 220i Sport has a 2.0L four-cylinder BMW TwinPower Turbo petrol engine which dishes out 190bhp and 280Nm. The engine is linked to a 7-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The four-door gran coupe touches the 100kmph mark from standstill in a mere 7.1 seconds. Being a front-wheel-drive vehicle, it gets four driving modes: ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport.
