BMW India has silently launched the 330i Sport, a new entry-level variant of 3-Series sedan, at an introductory price of Rs 41.70 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. The new variant has been equipped with a 2.0L petrol engine while the earlier base variant which came only with a 2.0L diesel engine has been phased out. Also, the German luxury automaker has increased the price of entire variant line-up by nearly Rs 60,000. The deliveries of BMW 330i Sport will start by April as it is yet to reach the dealerships.
The seventh-gen BMW 3-Series was launched last year in the Indian market with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants were powered by a 2.0L turbocharged engine with top power of 258bhp while the diesel variants sourced power from a 2.0L engine with power output of 190bhp. Both engines were offered with an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission with paddleshifters as standard. The power was transmitted to the rear wheels via the gearbox. The 2020 BMW 330i Sport comes with a decent feature list which comprises of cruise control, automatic LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, 3-zone climate control, powered front seats, sunroof and an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The safety features include six airbags, ABS, ESC, traction control, Isofix child seat anchors and a tyre pressure monitoring system as standard. Since it costs around Rs 6.80 Lakhs cheaper than the 330i M Sport model, it is bereft of several premium features such as ambient lighting, front sport seats, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, digital instrument cluster, a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen unit and parking assistant. In fact, the bumper design is also slightly tweaked while it gets smaller 17-inch alloy wheels. BMW 3 Series takes on the likes of Mercedes Benz C-Class, Audi A4, Jaguar XE and Volvo S60 in the Indian market. Below is the new variant-wise price of 2020 BMW 3 Series:
