BMW is all set to globally unveil the new 4 Series Coupe on June 2, 2020, at 18:00 CEST (21:30 IST). However, ahead of the launch, clear images of BMW 4 Series coupe have surfaced online. The leaked pictures are from an official launch brochure that clearly shows the first look of the car which includes front, rear, and side profile. The company will reveal the 4 Series first in the Coupe form followed by Convertible and four-door Gran Coupe versions.
According to the leaked images, the new BMW 4 Series Coupe will be based on the latest version of BMW’s CLAR (cluster architecture) platform. Upfront, it gets a redesigned kidney grille that extends to the base of the bumper. It continues to get the 4 laser light LED headlights. Other design highlights include a sloping roofline and a flat tail similar to the one present in BMW’s Flagship 8 Series Coupe. At the rear end, it gets a similar L-shaped tail lamp.
Under the skin, it will get engine options similar to the one present in the latest 3 Series. In the international market, the BMW 4 Series Coupe will get an extended range of 2.0L four-cylinder and 3.0L six-cylinder petrol and diesel powerplants. The 4 Series Coupe is likely to get 420i, 430i, and M440i xDrive petrol variants along with 420d and 430d diesel variants. One can also expect a new 430e plug-in hybrid, that draws power from a 2.0L four-cylinder petrol engine and a gearbox-mounted electric motor with a combined power output of 250 bhp and torque performance of 420 Nm. The 420i, 430i, 420d, and 430d variants are likely to get rear-wheel drive as standard. While the top-end variant 440i xDrive will get AWD system as standard.
The leaked brochure also revealed the exterior color options namely Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Mineral White, Blue Stone, Artic race Blue, Portimao Blue, Sunset Orange, San Remo Green, and Black Non-Metallic. Alongside the Coupe, BMW is also working on a 4 Series convertible. This is expected to feature a fabric roof in place of the metal structure used by the current generation. After this, BMW will begin its work on four-door Gran Coupe.
