The BMW 5-Series facelift had its world premiere last year in May

BMW India has announced the launch of 5-Series facelift on June 24, 2021 in the country. Being a mid-cycle update, there will not be substantial cosmetic or mechanical changes made to the sedan. The BMW 5-Series facelift had its world premiere last year in May. It will take on the likes of Mercedes Benz E-Class, Audi A6 and Jaguar XF in the Indian market. Presently, BMW 5 Series is priced in a range of Rs 56-69 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The facelifted version is expected to be costlier than the current model on sale.

The biggest update will be in the form of the front grille which has been positioned a bit lower than the ongoing model. The grille has grown in size too and it appears wider than before. It flaunts a new single-frame design with chrome elements, flanked by a restyled front bumper. The headlamps have been tweaked too with the addition of BMW’s Laserlight tech along with L-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs). The rear profile resembles the 3-Series with almost identical LED tail-lamp cluster and bumper. Additionally, the sedan would boast of trapezoidal exhaust pipes as standard. The cabin will come equipped with the latest BMW iDrive infotainment system with 10.3-inch screen.

The German luxury brand has also updated the dashboard design with a new lower climate display and centre console which is finished in glossy black. The sedan will be introduced in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with a total of three engine choices. There will be a 2.0L 4-cylinder petrol engine with power output of 252 bhp. The diesel variants will have a 2.0L 4-cylinder motor at the helm with maximum power output of 190 bhp. There will also be a 3.0L 6-cylinder diesel engine too for the higher variants with top power of 265 bhp. All the three engines will come mated to an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission as standard. Stay tuned for more updates.
