BMW India is all set to launch the 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 tomorrow via online medium. The German automaker will be announcing the official prices for the 8 Series line tomorrow. Both models will be available to purchase via the recently launched BMW Contactless Experience - an online retail platform. A few BMW dealers have already lined up prospective customers. In some cases, they have even started taking provisional bookings.
The new BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe is a 4-door derivative of the 8 Series. It will be replacing the 6 Series Gran Coupe in India. The company is expected to introduce the 840i variant of the vehicle. It is likely to be priced at Rs 1.4 crore (ex-showroom). Mechanically, BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe will be powered by a 3.0-litre, six-cylinder, twin-turbo petrol engine. The engine produces 335 bhp of power output with 500 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
While BMW M8 Competition is a high-performance version of the regular 8 Series. This sportiest iteration of the 8 Series Coupe will be more expensive than the Gran Coupe. Price of BMW M8 Competition is expected to be around Rs 2.3 crore (ex-showroom). The two-door coupe sources power from a 4.4-litre, V-8 engine that produces 625 bhp of maximum power output with 750 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system comes as a standard. However, it will also get an option of the rear-wheel-drive layout.
