Hyundai Motor Company showcased its next-generation i20 hatchback earlier this March in the global market. Hyundai Motor India is now planning to launch the premium hatchback in the domestic market by November this year. However, it has already been launched in some selected European countries. The upcoming Hyundai i20 has been spotted doing test runs quite a few times on the Indian roads. A few spy images revealing the exterior and interior features of the car did manage to surface online. However, now what we have got our hands on are the variant details of the Next-Gen i20 which been leaked online ahead of its launch. According to the leaked information, we can expect the upcoming i20 in India to be offered in a total of four variants namely Magna, Sportz, Asta, and Asta (O).
As per the spy images revealed earlier, the New Hyundai i20 will feature a new hexagonal grille and sleek angular LED headlamps with DRLs upfront. In addition, it will also get a sportier new front bumper and triangular pods for the front fog lamps. On the sides, the new i20 will get 16-inch alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the premium hatchback will flaunt wrap-around LED tail-lamps connected to each other with a light bar. Other design highlights will include a dual-tone rear bumper, a blacked-out roof, and chrome trim along the window line.
Talking about the interior features, the upcoming i20 is likely to get premium upholstery. Furthermore, it will also come equipped with a host of equipment. These will include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging among many others. 2020 Hyundai i20 will also get a SmartSense driving assist system, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, and BlueLink telematics.
Under the bonnet, the upcoming premium hatchback will be offered with three engine options. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox along with IVT transmission as an option. There will also be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit paired to an iMT and 7-speed DCT gearbox. While the diesel variants will be powered by a 1.5-litre mill linked to a manual gearbox.
