The two-wheeler giant BMW Motorrad has teased the BMW CE 02 electric scooter ahead of its official launch in the Indian market. BMW recently posted on its social media and disclosed that the CE 02 electric scooter is scheduled to be launched sometime later this month. Notably, the CE 02 is going to be the first two-wheeler to launch from the TVS-BMW partnership.
The BMW CE 02 is currently being locally manufactured at the TVS Motor’s Hosur plant. The new teaser video reveals a few interesting details about the upcoming electric scooter. BMW will offer the new e-scooter with three riding modes: Surf, Flow, and Splash with a reverse mode.
The upcoming electric scooter features new amenities like a small flyscreen, golden-colored front forks, and a square-shaped headlamp. It also features a flat single-piece seat, a saree guard, and a rear tyre hugger. The CE 02 electric scooter rolls on 14-inch black alloy wheels. Suspension duties are done by upside-down forks up front and a monoshock at the back. For braking duties, the e-scooter will get disc brakes at both ends.
The BMW CE 02 electric scooter is expected to be packed with a 3.5-inch TFT instrument panel with a Bluetooth connectivity option, keyless ignition, and USB-C charging. Powering the BMW CE 02 e-scooter is an air-cooled synchronous motor that generates power from two removable 2 kWh batteries. The new battery setup can provide a certified range of 90 km on one charge. The motor cranks out a peak power output of 15 bhp.
The 2-kWh battery setup can be charged from 0 to 100 percent in 5 hours and 12 minutes via a 0.9 kW standard charger. BMW rolled out the CE 04 e-scooter in India in July 2024 at an ex-showroom price of INR 14.90 lakh. The auto giant launched it as a CBU (completely built unit) in the Indian market, and it is manufactured in Berlin. The upcoming CE 02 is likely to be priced at INR 5 lakh as it is locally manufactured in the country.
