BMW Motorrad India has launched the F900 R and F900 XR in the country. BMW F900 R is only offered in a Standard variant at a price of Rs 9.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, Delhi) while BMW F900 XR is available in Standard and Pro variants with prices at Rs 10.50 Lakhs and Rs 11.50 Lakhs (Both Ex. Showroom, Delhi), respectively. Being showcased at the EICMA 2019 in Milan, the bookings for the F900 twins start today across the country. BMW will retail both the bikes as CBU in the Indian market and they are based on the same chassis with the same engine.
The Standard variant of BMW F900 R and BMW F900 XR comes with a couple of riding modes: Road and Rain. They also get traction control, 6.5-inch TFT screen with Bluetooth and LED headlights as standard. The Pro variant comes with a few additional features in the form of cruise control, a bi-directional quick-shifter and Dynamic ESA. The company is also offering a few premium features like cornering lights, keyless ignition and Pro riding mode as optional with F900 R with extra charges. The color options for BMW F900 R include Black Storm Metallic and Style Sport Hockenheim Silver metallic/Racing Red paintwork. On the other hand, the F900 XR is offered in Light White and Style Sport Racing Red paintwork.

Both the motorcycles are powered by the same BS6 compliant 895cc inline-twin engine which develops a top power of 105bhp at 8750rpm and peak torque of 92Nm at 6500rpm. However, the rider can avail 87Nm of torque from 4500rpm onwards on both the F900 R and F900 XR. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The 895cc engine is based on the motor of BMW F850 GS, but it has a slightly bigger bore by 2mm and much higher compression ratio. BMW F900 R and BMW F900 XR have fuel tank capacities of 13 litres and 15.5 litres, respectively. The XR model also boasts a larger suspension system at front (170mm) as well as rear (172mm) as compared to the R model's front (135mm) and rear (142mm) suspension numbers.
