The car will be targeted at younger buyers.

The company has revealed its New X2 SUV ahead of its official debut at the Los Angeles motor show this November. The crossover-styled SUV will go on sale abroad by March 2018.

The X2 is aimed at enticing younger customers, and its design is quite similar to the Concept X2 that was showcased at the 2016 Paris motor show. The cabin will share plenty of elements with the X1 including the black panel instruments and a multifunction steering wheel. The 8.8-inch touchscreen iDrive display and a heads-up display are available as options on the X2. The boot stands at 470 litres and the rear seats split and fold 40:20:40.

This car will be powered by three turbocharged four-cylinder units – a 190hp, 2.0-litre petrol that drives the front wheels, a 190hp, 2.0-litre diesel that sends power to all four-wheels, and the current range-topper is a 231hp, 2.0-litre diesel motor with four-wheel-drive.

The company will add more engines at a later date and the car will be offered with a choice of three trims – Basic, M Sport and M Sport X.

The company plans to launch the car here sometime in 2018.
