BMW’s all-new 5-series will feature remote parking tech and is set to launch on June 29.

The new 5 borrows design cues and tech from the larger 7-series. The new Bimmer is also larger and lighter than the car it replaces. BMW has plans to offer this car with three engines in India, all paired to eight-speed automatic gearboxes. There are two diesel engine options – a 190hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder unit in the 520d and the larger and more powerful 265hp, 3.0-litre, inline-six under the hood of the 530d.

The line-up will also feature a petrol engine. Unlike the current 5-series which, for a limited time, came with an 184hp 2.0-litre petrol engine (520i), the new model will be offered as the 530i with a much more potent 252hp 2.0-litre unit.

There’s also plenty of tech in this car – there’s gesture control for the iDrive system, adaptive dampers and a remote parking function, depending on the variant. Standard kit includes multiple zone climate control, electric adjust front seats, LED headlamps and a host of safety systems.

The 520d and 530i versions will be offered across a range of variants, with the 530d likely to be offered as the range-topping M-Sport only. Expect prices to be somewhere in the region of ₹52-65 lakh (ex-showroom).
