The German luxury carmaker, BMW has finally taken the covers off their flagship SUV the X7. The BMW X7 will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Audi Q7 and Range Rover Sport. The X7 gets a massive kidney grille up front and this is the largest grille ever designed by BMW.
The two-lamp headlight design and slender LED DRLs look modern along with the menacing grille. The SUV gets chrome surround on the lower half. The rear gets slim taillights and a split tailgate which can be electronically opened and closed. The car sits on 21-inch alloy wheels and gets a three-panel panoramic glass sunroof.
The interior of X7 has the blend of wood, leather and metallic trims. There are two 12.3-inch displays, one for the digital instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. The 10-speaker audio system is available as standard along with wireless phone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot and a four-zone climate control. Apart from these, there are many features available as an option like a rear-seat entertainment system with 10.2-inch touchscreen displays, heated seats, power rear window blinds, heated/cooled cup holders, a head-up display and gesture control.
The X7 features an assortment of driver assistance systems. Standard features include an Active Protection and Active Driving Assistant system with Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Rear and Frontal Collision Warning with Pedestrian detection, Cross Traffic Alert system, Automatic Emergency Braking, Speed Limit Information and a camera system which shows both panoramic and 3D views.
Under the hood, the X7 comes with following engine options in the international market - a turbocharged 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol engine that produces 335 HP and 446 Nm of torque, a twin-turbo 4.4-litre V8 petrol engine with 456 HP and 648 Nm of torque, a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel motor which produces 261 HP and 620 Nm of torque. However, the X7 M50d is the more powerful diesel variant which packs 394 HP and 760 Nm of twisting force. The engine will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.
The delivery of X7 will begin in March 2019 in the US market and then followed by the European market. We expect BMW to launch it in India sometime later in 2019. If launched in India, the SUV will be priced upwards of Rs. 1 crore.
