Black Tata Harrier is a part of the Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray Convoy.

Uddhav Thackeray became the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra in November 2019 which surprised many political observers. Having played as a second fiddle to former CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis earlier, Shiv Sena ditched the BJP this time around and cobbled an alliance with rivals Congress and National Congress Party (NCP). Uddhav Thackeray is the son of Bal Thackeray whose political hold over Maharashtra is well-known even today. Now, helming the administrative duties of the state of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray is overseeing the relief efforts of COVID-19. The Maha CM loves big machines and is known to drive cars all by himself. If anyone has taken a sneak-peek at Uddhav Thackeray car convoy, you would have noticed that Tata Harrier SUV provides the cover in it.

It’s a good sight to see Indian politicians making a beeline for the Made-In-India models like Tata Harrier. The convoy had several Black Tata Harriers, plus the pilot vehicle was a Tata Harrier XE Variant. There were three Tata Harriers in the convoy while Mahindra TUV 300 and XUV500 also made an appearance. Mahindra XUV 300 is one of the safest SUVs in India, receiving a 5-star rating from the GNCAP.

Range Rover was also present in the convoy while the CM himself went in a Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Tata Harrier was launched last year and now comes in a BS6 avatar. Powered by a BS-VI 2.0L ‘Kryotec' diesel engine, Tata Harrier churns out 168bhp of maximum power and 350Nm of peak torque. The transmission system is a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional six-speed automatic unit. Tata Harrier is based on the OMEGARC platform, derived From Land Rover Discovery's D8 platform. It’s surprising to know that this is the first time in India that a state head uses a Tata Harrier in its convoy.

Recently, Maharashtra Police acquired hundreds of Mahindra TUV300 SUVs, some of which were spotted in the convoy. The former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had a Toyota Fortuner SUV in his security detail.
