To cut losses, most automakers are selling their cars and bikes at a steal.

The Indian auto industry has been thrust into a state of frenzy due to the Supreme Court's new decision of upholding the ban on non BS-IV compliant vehicles. This has led to most of the two and four-wheeler companies to levy heavy discounts on any remaining stock in order to avoid heavy losses.

Vehicles bought now can also be registered later as long as the buyer can provide proof that the vehicle was purchased before March 31st. Honda is said to be offering discounts on scooters to the tune of ₹13,500; on the Navi and other motorcycles to the tune of ₹18,500; and on the CBR150 and 250, ₹22,000. Honda dealers are also offering a Navi free with the purchase of a CBR 150 or CBR 250. Hero MotorCorp is offering up to ₹12,500 as a rebate in the form of discounts and free insurance on most of its products such as Splendour, Glamour, etc.

Tata’s Xenon is being offered at a discount of close to ₹1.5 lakh for the single cab model and around ₹2.5 lakh for the double cab. TVS is offering a blanket rate of up to ₹20,150 off across its range of motorcycles and scooters.

These heavy discounts are helping the auto industry tide over the losses as much as possible.
