Mahindra & Mahindra have removed TUV300 from their official website with no BS6 update so far.

In a surprise development, Mahindra and Mahindra have removed TUV300 from their official website. With the Indian automobile sector entering the BS6 Emission era, the TUV 300 had not received the BS6 update so far. With no reports indicating a BS6 update for TUV300, we can assume that Mahindra is going to permanently discontinue TUV300 in the Indian market. Mahindra TUV300 made its debut in the Indian market way back in 2015 and competed in the sub-compact SUV segment. In 2019, Mahindra updated TUV300 with the addition of new features and equipment with minor design upgrades.

Mahindra TUV300

Mahindra has done well in the compact SUV segment in India with its other model XUV300. Mahindra’s XUV300 crossed 40,000-unit sales in just 11 months from its launch back in February 14, 2019. Mahindra TUV300, on the other hand, could only notch up sales of 9,218 units in 11 months of its facelift launch. Thus XUV300 became the best-selling compact SUV in May post easing of lockdown restrictions, it beat its competitors like Hyundai Venue and Maruti Vitara Brezza.

TUV300

If we talk about the outgoing TUV300, the SUV came only with a diesel powertrain. Thus it was powered by a 1.5-litre BS4 diesel engine that churned out 100 bhp power and 240 Nm  torque. The transmission duties were handled by a 5-speed manual transmission or automatic gearbox depending on the model.  Mahindra has been rethinking its strategies regarding launches with COVID-19 severely affecting its plans. The Indian automaker suffered net loss of Rs 3,255 crore this year compared to a profit of Rs 969 crore in 2019’s last quarter. Lockdown has disrupted automobile business badly and Mahindra was no exception to it. The company has now delayed the launch of its models like the Thar, XUV500 and the Scorpio. New-Generation Mahindra Thar is expected to arrive in the Indian market later this year with Scorpio and XUV500 launches possibly slated for next year.
