Bike modifications are becoming quite popular across the globe as everyone loves to mould their two-wheeler according to the individuals needs and preferences. We have earlier covered some stunning motorcycles customizations that simply take our breath away. There is an increasingly growing trend of adopting Royal Enfield motorcycles for modifications. The reason could be the ease in improving the design and performance of these motorcycles. The Chennai-based motorcycle giant has numerous models under its portfolio but Himalayan is one of the popular choices for any modification. From Las Vegas to Jakarta to Ludhiana, Royal Enfield Himalayan modifications are the talk of the town. Today, I bring to you yet another exciting modification of a Royal Enfield Himalayan turned into a scrambler.
Pune based Ricochet Motorcycles undertook the project of modifying a 2018 BS4 Royal Enfield Himalayan into a racing-style scrambler. The designers took the cool quotient a notch up by nicknaming the modified bike as “The Marlboro Man”. The project was executed a year ago but the quality and aesthetic are timeless, to say the least. The vision behind this initiative was to develop a bike that could navigate any terrain effortlessly. The design outfit started first by developing a completely new rear subframe. The idea behind this was to reduce the weight and make the motorcyle leaner. Its colour scheme is quite reminiscent of the famous American Marlboro cigarette brand, 'smoking is injurious to health' but the bike is soothing for the soul I might say. The client had a request for adding a number 9 to the race plate.
Moving on to the suspension, the modifiers have replaced the front with dirt-bike based USD Forks. Onto the wheels, presence of 18-inch alloys bearing
110/90 Ralco rubber upfront with 130/80 knobby tyres towards the rear give it a muscular and off-road feel. However, the engine remains the same with the addition of a K&N filter and an exhaust system. Both the components we believe were developed by the experts themselves.
According to them, the bike acceleration has improved significantly with a modified gearbox ratio. Further in order to provide it with a Scrambler look, they added twin headlamps, aluminium sump protector and a new aluminium based handlebar. The total cost of these modifications is said to be around Rs 2 lakhs. While the New 2020 BS6 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes equipped a 41cc air-cooled SOHC FI single-cylinder engine that is capable of producing a power putput of 24 bhp with 32 nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed transmission with no slipper clutch.
