BS6 Honda CB Hornet expected to get mild design updates and new color options

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is likely to launch the BS6 version of Honda CB Hornet 160R next month. Earlier in April this year, the company had removed the BS4 version of CB Hornet 160R from its official website thus confirming the up-gradation of the bike to meet the BS6 norms. Also, this bike is expected to cost around Rs 13,000 more than its BS4 model.

Along with the BS6 update, the motorcycle is expected to get some mild design upgrades as well. However, the bike retains the telescopic front forks and mono-shock at the rear. The braking set up will also be the same as the one present in the bike’s BS4 counterpart. It will get a 276 mm petal disc in the front and 220 mm petal disc at the rear end. There will also be an option of a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. It will also feature a single-channel ABS. Under the frame, the CB Hornet 160R is likely to be powered by a BS6 compliant 162.7cc single-cylinder engine. This unit is in fact the same one which is also seen on the BS6 Honda Unicorn as it churns out a maximum power output of 12.9 bhp with 14.6 Nm of peak torque. Apart from this, the bike is likely to get new color options and graphics. It might also feature a silent starter.

Honda launched the CB Hornet 160R in December 2015 in the Indian market. The company updated the motorcycle in 2018. The bike got new features like an LED headlamp, hazard lamp function, and digital instrumentation with a blue backlight. The CB Hornet 160R also featured single-channel ABS. Apart from this, the bike offered new color options and graphics. Mechanically, the BS4 version of CB Hornet 160R used a 162.71cc single-cylinder engine that delivered 15 bhp power and 14.5 Nm torque.
