Auto companies are working around the clock to launch BS6 compliant vehicles as the deadline for adopting BS6 Emission Norms comes closer. As per the latest ruling from Supreme Court, BS4 vehicles sale and purchase are only allowed for 10 days post Coronavirus lockdown ends. Mahindra and Mahindra have revealed that they are accepting online bookings for the BS6 compliant version of the XUV500. Indian customers can now book BS6 Mahindra XUV500 on their official website for an amount of Rs 5,000.
BS 6 Mahindra XUV500 comes with no cosmetic updates or any new features compared to the outgoing BS4. One reason could be that the Indian automaker is currently working on Mahindra XUV500 facelift, it's expected to arrive later this year or maybe early next year. BS6 Mahindra XUV500 sports a larger grille with chrome inserts, LED headlamps with Daytime Running lights, 18-inch alloy wheels and faux skid plates on either sides. This seven-seater SUV will be offered in the Indian market in four trims -- W5, W7, W9, and W11 (Optional). The Top-end variant of BS6 XUV500 will come equipped with features like an electric sunroof, powered driver seat, 8-inch touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Arkamys sound system, automatic headlamps, and many more.
Powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine, BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will generate a maximum power output of 153 bhp and peak torque of 360 Nm. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox along with a 6-speed automatic transmission which will be optional. If we talk about safety features, BS6 Mahindra XUV500 would come with dual airbags, seat belt reminder, speed alert, ABS with EBD, Reverse Parking Camera and many more.
