Vespa Notte 125 gets a price hike of Rs 17,000 over the price of its BS4 counterpart; no cosmetic upgrades

With the advent of BS6 Emission Norms, many automobile manufacturers are updating their product portfolio. Most of their products are getting a price hike along with the BS6 update. Piaggio India has launched the BS6 version of Vespa Notte 125 with a substantial price hike. This scooter is the most affordable Vespa in the company’s entire line-up. It is launched at a price tag of Rs 91,864 (ex-showroom). Compared to its BS4 counterpart, it has received a price hike of Rs 17,000. The price hike is not justified as the scooter comes with no new feature addition or visual upgrades apart from the addition of fuel injection technology.

In terms of design, the new Vespa Notte 125 gets no new changes. It continues to feature a round headlamp, old-school inspired rear view mirrors, wide and comfortable seat, single-piece pillion grab rail, and a spacious floorboard. It rides on 10-inch wheels. As for suspension, the scooter gets a single sidearm upfront and a single shock absorber towards the rear. It comes equipped with drum brakes at both ends.

Under the frame, the scooter is powered by a BS6 compliant 125cc single-cylinder engine that offers fuel injection. The engine produces 9.92 bhp power output and 9.6 Nm of peak torque, as it comes mated to a CVT gearbox.

The Notte 125 competes against the likes of Suzuki Burgman Street 125, Honda Activa 125, and Aprilia SR 125. Piaggio India has also launched the BS6 versions of Vespa VXL 149 and Vespa SXL 149 recently at Rs 1,22,664 and Rs 1,26,650(ex-showroom) respectively.
