BS6 Yamaha YZF-R15 Gets Second Price Hike of Rs 2100

Yamaha YZF-R15 is now available at Rs 1.49 lakhs after the second price hike

Yamaha Motors India recently increased the price of its BS6 YZF-R15 by Rs 2100. The bike is now available at Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer had launched YZF-R15 in 2008. The motorcycle was updated to meet BS6 Emission Norms towards the end of last year with a launch price of Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom). This second price increase has made the two-wheeler dearer by Rs 4000 over its BS4 counterpart.

No changes have been made in terms of design or engine. Cosmetically, the motorcycle gets a sleek LED dual headlamps up front. While the rear end boasts of an LED tail-light. The motorcycle gets a 100/80R17 tubeless tyre at the front and 140/70R17 radial tyres towards the rear. Furthermore, the bike also gets Variable Valve Actuation which is basically a Yamaha lingo for variable valve timing. Other notable features include a digital instrument console that offers information such as gear position indicator, two trip meters, average fuel efficiency indicator and a bar-type tachometer. 

Mechanically, the 2020 YZF-R15 draws its power from a BS6 compliant 155cc liquid-cooled SOHC single-cylinder engine. This engine delivers a maximum power output of  18.3 bhp and 14.1 Nm of peak torque while linked to a 6-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are taken care by a pair of conventional telescopic forks up front. Talking about the brakes, then the duties are handled by a 282 mm disc brake in the front while a 220 mm disc can be found at the rear. It also offers dual-channel ABS.
 
The 2020 Yamaha YZF-R15 is offered in three colour choices namely Racing Blue, Thunder Grey, and Dark Knight. The bike competes against the likes of KTM RC 125 and Suzuki Gixxer SF in the Indian market.
