With the festive season around the corner, many car brands have announced the introduction of multiple new products in the Indian market. The Coronavirus pandemic has had a very bad effect on the industry, thereby causing a major disruption of sales in the first half. But now with the situation being under control, the automakers are hoping to bounce back in the coming few months. In order to improve the sales numbers, automakers are also offering huge discounts and benefits to their customer base. Check out the list to find out the launch and unveils slated for this month.
Maruti Suzuki launched the 2020 S-Cross BS6 petrol at Rs 8.39 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The crossover is Maruti’s flagship product. It is the first car to be sold via Nexa as it has been launched to commemorate the fifth anniversary of Nexa premium range of dealerships. Further, it is offered in four trims namely Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The crossover retains the design from its BS4 counterpart. As for interior features, it comes equipped with a 7-inch SmartPlay studio touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, start/stop button, keyless entry, hill hold assist, and automatic climate control. The safety kit of the S-Cross comprises dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, seat-belt reminder, and high-speed alert system. Mechanically, the crossover is powered by a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre four-cylinder K15 petrol engine that delivers 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque. The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. In the case of automatic variants, the engine comes with the next-generation Smart Hybrid technology and it also gets an option of a 4-speed torque converter automatic unit.
Kia Motors India is all set to launch the Sonet SUV on August 7. It is likely to fall in the price bracket of Rs 7 lakh - 11.5 lakhs (Ex-Showroom). The SUV has already been listed on the official website of Kia. Also, spy images have surfaced online quite a few times, thus giving us a fair idea of what the SUV looks like. The tiger-nose black finished front grille with chrome surrounds gives the compact SUV a bold look. Further, it gets sleek LED headlamps integrated with LED DRLs. At the rear, it gets full LED tail-lamps, a rear diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes. Other design highlights include blackened B-pillars, 16-inch alloy wheels, slightly raked windshield and black-coloured ORVMs. Inside the cabin, the SUV offers the segment’s largest 10.25-inch horizontally oriented touchscreen infotainment system with a fully-digital instrument cluster. The infotainment system is integrated with Apple CarPlay, Andriod Auto and UVO Connect which comes with eSIM connectivity feature. Under the bonnet, it will get three engine options. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that will deliver 82 bhp power & 114 Nm torque, mated to a manual gearbox. There will also be a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will belt out 118 bhp power and 172 Nm torque. The engine will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard along with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Automatic automatic transmission. Apart from this, there is also be a 1.5-litre oil mill that will produce a maximum power of 99 bhp and 240 Nm torque while coming equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to unveil the next-generation Thar on 15 August 2020. It is expected to get a starting price of Rs 10 lakh (Ex-Showroom). The off-roader has been seen doing test runs in the past. Also, the spy shots of the SUV has been hitting the internet for almost three years now. Being based on the zen3 ladder frame chassis, the all-new Thar will be wider in size as compared to its predecessor. Further, it gets an aggressive look due to generation change. Upfront, the SUV gets a wide bonnet with circular LED headlamps. The rear-end will get brick-shaped tail-lights. This latest version comes both with soft & hard roof options. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets some major changes in the form of new upholstery with premium seats. The dashboard and the centre console will be redesigned. The major feature update is the front-facing rear seats that provide more space and safety to the passengers at the rear. Mechanically, the new-gen Thar will be powered by a BS6 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine that will churn out 138 bhp power. There will also be a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine featuring Direct Injection and Turbo Charging. The engine will deliver 187 bhp power. Both engines will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an automatic transmission as an option.
Audi India released a teaser clip thereby confirming the launch of its most powerful SUV, RSQ8 in August. It is likely to be brought to India as a full import. We can expect it to be priced at Rs 2 crore (Ex-Showroom). Cosmetically, the new Q8 gets a single-frame front grille and a large front air intake. At the side, it gets 22-inch wheels as standard along with 23-inch wheels as an option. Other highlighted features include RS roof spoiler, rear diffuser, and large quad exhausts. Inside the cabin, the 2020 Audi RSQ8 gets a sporty look due to an all-black theme with red accents and carbon-fibre like finish. Other highlighted features include an RS leather-covered flat-bottom steering wheel and virtual cockpit with digital display. Just like the standard Q8 model, the new RS Q8 is also likely to be fully customisable. The 2020 RS Q8 is powered by a 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine that delivers 600 bhp power & 800 Nm torque. The engine will be offered with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Furthermore, it also comes with Quattro all-wheel-drive powertrain with Quattro sport rear differentials.
