The new Beat hatchback will make its debut in India this July. The second-gen Beat (likely to be called Intelli Beat) looks more like an evolution of its predecessor. The Chevy looks more grown up now and less edgy. This second-gen car continues to offer the passenger-door handle on the pillar – a trend started by the first-gen Beat, and is now seen the Mahindra KUV100 and the next-gen Maruti Swift.
The number plate at the back has now moved on to the bumper. Also, the tail-lamps are slightly larger than the earlier Beat and they will feature LEDs. The India-spec Beat will be followed by a rugged-looking Beat Activ cross-hatch and a Beat Essentia compact sedan soon after. Chevrolet showcased the Activ and Essentia at last year’s Auto Expo.
The new Beat was scheduled to launch earlier this year but has been delayed until July. The compact sedan will follow the hatch once it launches.
After announcing investment in homegrown Ola, Hyundai is reportedly developing electric cars exclusively for this Indian ride hailing startup.
